As part of BC Housing’s commitment to developing sustainable social housing, Carmanah installed a 139 kW solar power system for the Greenbrook Improvement Project in June 2010. Carmanah’s grid-tie solar power system is designed to provide 10 percent of the development’s annual electricity requirements to the complex, which includes 29 buildings with 127 town houses. Carmanah’s grid-tie system will connect to the electric utility through multiple net metering connection points within Greenbrook’s common distribution electrical system.

This project, which is located in Surrey’s Newton Town Centre is Western Canada’s largest solar grid-tie project to date.
