Telus’ William Farrell building at the corner of Robson and Seymour in downtown Vancouver was in need of a new façade to provide better heat recovery. The new façade was designed to lay over the existing one, similar to that of a double-glazed storm window. The 2.5 kW photovoltaic array from Carmanah was designed to operate a fan system that ventilates the air gap between the new and old exteriors.

The grid-tie system benefited from a National Research Council grant.
