Additional Order of Solar-Powered Airfield Lighting by Langley Air Base

Tuesday, August 10, 2004

Langley Air Force Base, Virginia, has placed two additional orders for Carmanah's solar-powered airfield lighting. Destined for expedited airfield applications in the Middle East, Langley has ordered a total of 300 solar LED taxiway lights and 25 solar LED barricade lights.

Successful installations at more than 70 air force bases worldwide demonstrate the reliability, performance and cost-effectiveness of Carmanah's solar-powered LED airfield lighting. By eliminating the need for external power and scheduled maintenance, Carmanah's technology can be installed quickly at a fraction of the cost of traditional hardwired, diesel generator powered, or battery powered systems. More than 9,000 units are currently installed for expedited, permanent and temporary airfield lighting applications with the US Air Force, US Army, US Marines, Air National Guard and Air Reserves.
