Carmanah Helipad Edge Lights Ordered by Washington State

Monday, July 19, 2004

The Department of Aeronautics for Washington State has recently ordered Carmanah helipad edge lights for Medivac Operations at Skykomish Airport. As part of an upgrade to the airfield lighting infrastructure at this remote mountainous airport, Carmanah's lights will be used to complement the diesel generator flood lighting system that is currently in place for emergency operations. Carmanah's helipad lights use solar-powered LED technology and are maintenance free. With a continuous influx of Medivac flights into this treacherous Skykomish region, the installed lights will improve transport efficiency for outgoing patients, increase safety for Medivac pilots, and assist the WA State Division of Aeronautics with low upfront capital costs combined with zero operating costs over 5 to 8 years.
