Carmanah's Solar LED Lighting Group has received an order from the Quito International Airport in Quito, Ecuador for 130 units of its solar-powered LED airport lights. This order is comprised of 90 model A601 blue taxiway lights, 40 model A601 barricade lights and corresponding accessories.
The Quito International Airport was in need of a cost-effective solution for upgrading its taxiway and with end of life electrical lighting infrastructure in need of replacement, the A601 self contained taxiway lights proved to be an excellent solution. The airport was introduced to Carmanah's solar-powered LED airport lights and technology at the ACI International Aviation Conference, held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Carmanah's proven list of established international airports currently using the A601 taxiway and obstruction lights were key in the decision to install solar vs. conventional hard wired lighting. The airport was able to avoid installation of new cabling and power infrastructure, and it could install the self-contained lighting extremely quickly with minimal disruption to air traffic operations.
Carmanah has supplied its A601 and A700 series solar LED airport lights to more than 100 commercial airports around the world for civilian operations.
