Carmanah's Power Systems Group has supplied Argus Machine Co. Ltd., a Canadian-owned company that provides quality products for the oil and gas industry, with a specialized 50 watt MAPPS modular solar power system.
For an 11-week period each Spring, there is a Caribou run in parts of North Alberta. As per environment regulations, no humans are allowed into these regions while the herds of caribou are moving.
In order to maintain and improve flow through the pipe lines during this time, Husky Oil installed an automated 6" 300 ANSI Class Argus Multi-Launcher with 11 barrel pigs. Carmanah's MAPPS solar power system will be used to power timers that activate the pigging process. The system includes a custom SPEC PC controller with a timing program written specifically for Argus' requirements. Based on this successful installation, Argus also foresees more installations of Carmanah's MAPPS systems to regulate pipeline maintenance during the winter months.
Solar power is an ideal solution to safely and reliably generate electricity to power remote security systems. Carmanah's MAPPS systems are the only complete stand-alone solar electric systems available that are specifically designed for remote industrial applications.
Thousands of Carmanah MAPPS systems have been deployed worldwide over the past 15 years. These systems are field-proven to endure the extremely harsh environments found at many remote locations. In fact, Carmanah's MAPPS systems can be approved for Class I, DIV. II hazardous locations. As Carmanah's MAPPS Systems are shipped as complete, easy-to-assemble kits, they can be installed quickly with minimal technical expertise.
