Carmanah's Aviation Lighting Division has received a repeat order from Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA) to install an additional 79 units of its solar-powered LED airfield lights. Pleased with the performance of Carmanah's solar-powered LED aviation lights currently in use at the airport, HIAA generated this second order. The order consists of Carmanah's solar-powered LED model 601 obstruction light and is part of a major airfield rehabilitation program currently underway.
Halifax International Airport has more flights to more destinations than any other airport in Atlantic Canada, servicing over three million passengers yearly. Commencing in May 2005 and expected to roll out over several years, the airport is undergoing major airfield renovations in order to maintain the integrity and operation of its runways and taxiways.
Airfield upgrades are required, at minimum, every 20 years. Runways at Halifax International Airport have not been upgraded since 1987. These improvements are essential to modernize the airfield to meet operational standards and ensure continued safety.
Carmanah has more than 100,000 units installed in 110 countries and maintains a solid reputation as the world's leader in self-contained solar LED lighting.
