Carmanah's Aviation Lighting Division has received an order from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to supply 300 units of its solar-powered LED airfield lights. The order consists of Carmanah's solar-powered LED model A501 barricade lights to be installed as part of ongoing airport construction and maintenance upgrades currently underway.
JFK is located in the southeastern section of Queens County, New York City, on Jamaica Bay. It is only fifteen miles by highway from midtown Manhattan. JFK consists of 4,930 acres, including nearly nine miles of runway and over 25 miles of taxiways. JFK carried more than 20,000,000 passengers in 2004 on over 195,000 flights.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has leased the internationally renowned JFK airport from the City of New York since June 1, 1947 and has invested more than $4.3 billion in the airport over the years.
Ideal for all types of general aviation and private airfield lighting applications, Carmanah's Model A501 is also especially suited for barricade marking. Its virtually indestructible design is completely waterproof, vibration-proof and vandal-resistant. The A501 will provide automatic dusk-to-dawn operation without any maintenance for up to five years. This unit offers excellent value and extreme reliability, and is approved for barricade lighting applications in commercial airports, as per the FAA Advisory Circular AC150/5370-2E.
With more than 150,000 installations worldwide, Carmanah is a leader in solar-powered LED lighting solutions. For more information about the Company's unique airfield lighting products, please contact Allister Wilmott of the Aviation Lighting Division at:
