Hawaii: Kamehameha Schools, the largest independent school in the US, has recently ordered R820 Solar Wireless Crosswalk warning system. Carmanah’s high-intensity flashing beacons will provide the school with enhanced visibility of students crossing a busy roadway that separates two parking lots.

Located near Honolulu, the 600-acre hillside campus features nearly 70 major buildings, seven miles of road and is home to nearly 3,200 students. The Kamehameha installation will be the first R820 unit installed in Hawaii.

The R820 is a self-contained, solar-powered, wireless crosswalk warning system that requires no external power, and therefore no electrical connection permits, cable trenching, etc. The R820 is easier and significantly less expensive to install and operate than conventional hard-wired systems and is designed to operate with no scheduled maintenance for up to 5 years.

Carmanah is a worldwide supplier of solar-powered LED lighting products. Currently, the company has more than 90,000 units installed in 110 countries. For more information, contact Carmanah’s Roadways Division at 1-(877) 722-8877.
