Carmanah has received an additional order from the US Air Force for solar-powered LED aviation lights to be installed at the Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan. This new order consists of 42 A702/A601 obstruction lights as well as 23 units of Carmanah’s recently improved A702 solar LED runway lights.
Carmanah’s second generation Model A702 solar LED runway lights are three times brighter than their predecessor and feature a new mechanical switch to access three advanced functions:
There is currently no existing infrastructure to support a traditional hardwired airfield system for the 10,000-foot runway at Bagram Air Base, which is located 47 km north of Kabal. The new Model A702 units will improve daytime operations at this base when visibility is poor, as well as during sand and dust storms when runway lights need to be operational.
More than 800 lights have been installed at Bagram Air Base over the past two years, saving millions of dollars in infrastructure, operating, energy and labor costs.
With more than 150,000 installations in 110 countries, Carmanah is a world leader in solar-powered LED lighting. For more information about the Company’s unique airfield lighting solutions, please visit www.solarairportlights.com or contact the Aviation Lighting Division at:
