VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA (August 31, 2010) — Carmanah Technologies Corporation has been recognized by the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) in the 2010 IES Progress Report. The report recognizes Advanced Occupancy Sensing, the Company’s newest technology, as providing a unique and significant advancement to the art and science of lighting.
Advanced Occupancy Sensing is a lighting industry first and is not currently offered by any other light on the market. The technology helps to overcome the limitations of conventional occupancy sensors that provide illumination only when motion is within a certain radius of the light. Advanced Occupancy Sensing works with Carmanah EverGEN solar LED lights and provides for the synchronized activation of an entire network of lights when just one light within the network senses motion. Utilizing mesh networking and occupancy sensors, the lights communicate wirelessly, providing illumination that is responsive to motion in areas such as parking lots, pathways, secure facilities and other areas where lighting performs an integral role in maintaining safety and security.
Advanced Occupancy Sensing can be configured for either full or set distance activation. Full activation provides synchronized activation of all the lights within the system. Set distance activation provides for activation of lights within a set distance of the detected motion, effectively providing a bubble of illumination that follows motion throughout the site.
