Auckland International Airport, New Zealand to Use Carmanah Taxiway Edge Lights

Auckland International Airport (AIAL), New Zealand, has ordered 55 units of the Carmanah Model 601 taxiway edge light for the upcoming R-5 Runway rehabilitation project scheduled to begin April 11, 2004. Carmanah taxiway edge lights will be used to re-route taxiing planes around the closed runway section 05R/23L.

Brightening Up the Ride

The St. John's Transportation Commission (Metrobus) has added solar-powered, light emitting diode (LED) illumination to three bus stops.The new i-STOP, introduced in 2002 by Carmanah Technologies Inc. Victoria, B.C., offers: Lighting for the passenger waiting area A backlit bus schedule for nighttime reading A pushbutton-activated flashing beacon to notify bus drivers of a waiting passenger, visible for 1.5 kilometres at night and 400 metres in daylight The i-STOP also enables future enhancements like satellite-linked real-time schedule information that would tell passengers if they have enough time to grab a coffee or a newspaper before the next bus arrives. The i-STOP is the world's first solar-powered, LED-illuminated bus stop.

Chicago: Pace Installs Solar-Powered Bus Stops

With ridership down, Pace has launched a pilot program to ensure that people who want to take its buses are not passed while waiting at a stop. This month, Pace had 13 solar-powered illuminated bus stops installed along the Sibley Boulevard route in Harvey, Dolton and Calumet City.

Dubrovnik Airport, Croatia Installs Carmanah Taxiway Edge Lights

Dubrovnik Airport, Croatia will be installing Carmanah's solar powered LED Aviation Lights for taxiway edge and barricade lighting applications during the upcoming 2004 season. With no current power in certain locations of its airfield, Carmanah lights will provide Dubrovnik with increased safety for daytime and nighttime visual guidance, while not having to access the power grid.

LEDs Signal Energy Revolution

US Army lights Mosul Airfield, Iraq with Carmanah Aviation Lights

Carmanah Delivers Additional 400 Taxiway Lights to US Air Force in Kuwait and Iraq

Carmanah has recently supplied an additional 400 Model 601 LED taxiway lights to be installed at Kirkuk Air Force Base in Iraq and Ali Al Salem Air Force Base in Kuwait. Kirkuk Air Force Base has now installed a total of 600 units to light the entire airfield for taxiing aircraft and fuel truck operations.
