2007 Technology Impact Award Winners Announced

Vancouver, BC, June 7, 2007– (T-Net) — Known worldwide for its zero-energy solar powered LED lighting solutions, Victoria-based Carmanah Technologies walked away with the coveted Company of the Year Award at the 14th Annual Technology Impact Awards (TIAs) hosted by the BC Technology Industry Association (BCTIA) held last night at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver Hotel.

In 2006, LED lighting designer and manufacturer, Carmanah Technologies experienced a 61 percent increase in revenues and celebrated a milestone of over 250,000 installations in 110 countries. In addition to providing environmentally responsible lights to transit, outdoor advertising, marine, aviation, transportation and industrial worksite markets, Carmanah has achieved success entering new markets as a first mover with disruptive LED lighting technology.

Person of the Year went to Greg Peet, high-tech entrepreneur, executive, board director and angel investor. Greg was recognized for his contribution to the province of BC through creating successful global enterprises and supporting local charitable activities.

JDQ Systems won the Leadership in Social Responsibility award for its “3Spheres of Reciprocity”, a program that aims to break down the barriers between the spheres of business, community and academia.

And Team of the Year went to the Business Objects On Demand team who delivered a new Web 2.0 software-as-a-service offering called crystalreports.com, from concept to 37,000 subscribers in 12 months.
