Rick Dacey installing Carmanah 702-5 Marine Light
Victoria solar technology is making Canada’s waterways safer. Rick Dacey, senior marine aids technician, installs a Carmanah Technologies Corporation solar-powered 7025 light on the top of a three-metre bell buoy at the Victoria coast guard base. The buoy is destined for Prince Rupert. The lights, worth $1250 U.S. each, require less than half the installation time of traditional lights and panels. The light-emitting-diode units are more reliable, more efficient and much smaller than the older units they are replacing on coast guard buoys across Canada.
