Carmanah has received an order from a large coal mining company for 48 units of its Model A601 solar LED helipad perimeter light. These units will be installed at 12 remote coalmine heliports throughout Indiana and Illinois.
Without access to a conventional power source, the remote coalmines did not have any helipad perimeter lighting installed. Helicopter arrivals and departures were therefore limited to short daytime hours, and were problematic due to foggy weather.
The helipads required a reliable airfield lighting solution that operated using a remote power source.
