Carmanah has completed a trial installation of its new solar-powered area lighting solution featuring the BetaLED™ THE EDGE™ light fixture. Installed on a university campus in the Pacific Northwest, the technology is being used to illuminate a pathway within a parking area on the campus grounds.

Attesting to the simple installation of the product, only a drill, a screwdriver and a bucket truck were required to mount both the solar engine and the LED fixture onto the existing pole. Featuring a Type II Long IES distribution, the solar LED area light provides bright, crisp illumination with a focused spill pattern. The BetaLED™ fixture is fully compliant with Dark Sky Association guidelines and IES full cutoff standards.

Following the success of this trial installation, the University may consider further locations around the campus that would benefit from solar area lighting. A cost-effective alternative for introducing light into new areas or replacing existing campus lighting, Carmanah area lights feature easy installation, reliable operation, and reduced maintenance cycles.
