The A704-5 omnidirectional runway / obstruction / helipad light is the latest aviation LED fixture from Carmanah Technologies in Canada. This dual mode visibile / infrared LED is a self-contained solar runway light for civilian and military airfield lighting applications. Visible up to 9.3 km (5 n miles), the A704-5 uses an array of ultra-bright visible and IR LEDs.
According to Carmanah, the new optics and lens design results in increased vertical divergence and greater light uniformity for approach pilots. The A704-5 is built to meet FAA AC 150 5345/50A standards for portable airfield lighting applications, as well as ICAO 18 Annex 14 Type A low-intensity obstruction lights.
The Carmanah A704-5 runway light can meet non-precision IFR lighting standards, per FAA AC 150 5345/46B for 15 hours without external power.
