Carmanah’s Solar Power Systems Group has received an order from Chroma Communications in Coquitlam, BC to install solar-powered LED area and sign lighting at the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) Endowment Lands pullout, just south of West 16th and Marine Drive in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. This system represents Carmanah’s second installation of customized solar LED lighting with Chroma Communications.

The University pullout area features a campus map which required lighting for visibility and night-time safety, but the nearest power source was 200 metres away. Carmanah’s solar-powered LED light was the ideal environmentally-friendly and cost-effective solution. UBC is Canada’s first university to implement a sustainable development policy to use green energy wherever possible. Over the last 10 years UBC has installed several photovoltaic projects and developed many green buildings on campus.
