These solar power systems will be deployed along Florida’s Interstate Highways to operate remote sensing equipment that measure traffic flow.
Data gathered from the monitoring equipment along the highway is available in real time on www.traffic.com, a website that offers drivers free, personalized traffic flow information via email, text message, or phone alerts so they can plan their trips accordingly.
Typically, traffic flow monitoring systems are powered by hard-wired systems, however, this means that installations must be in a location where it is possible and cost effective to connect to the grid.
