Carmanah’s Solar LED Lighting Group has received an order through its authorized distributor, Temple Inc. for more than 30 units of its Model R409 LED internally-illuminated street-name signs. These signs will be installed throughout the city of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and will replace existing, older fluorescent technology.
Baton Rouge had been using fluorescent signs for years, but decided to switch to Carmanah LED edge-lit street-name signs after reviewing different illumination technology options.
The City was particularly looking for an illuminated street-name sign that reduced power consumption, but did not sacrifice brightness or uniformity of output. Carmanah’s signs will also save Baton Rouge considerable energy costs, as Carmanah’s LED edge-lighting consumes approximately 75% less energy than fluorescent illumination.
Carmanah’s LED illuminated street-name signs also measure less than 1.5″ in thickness, compared to the older fluorescent signs that measure close to 12″. Carmanah’s street-name signs can also be rigid mounted to the mast arms, making them more robust under high wind load conditions.
