Carmanah has recently received three separate contracts from the US Air Force for solar-powered LED airfield lights that will be installed at various air bases in the Middle East.
Approximately 100 units of Carmanah’s Model A601 taxiway and obstruction lights will be deployed at the Kandahar Air Base in Afghanistan. This base has been using Carmanah’s solar-powered LED airfield lights for more than two years now and the lights have performed superbly. There are more than 1000 units at this base alone for taxiway, runway, threshold, obstruction and helipad lighting applications.
An additional 100 of Carmanah’s taxiway lights have been been ordered for deployment at the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait. Ali Al Salem is a Kuwait Air Force installation with part designation for operations by the US Air Force and its allies. There are currently more than 2000 of Carmanah’s airfield lights installed there for all types of airfield and obstruction lighting purposes.
Carmanah will also be supplying 44 units of its Model A702 obstruction light and 30 units of its Model A601 taxiway light to Baghdad International Airport. The USAF has had more than 800 airfield lights deployed at this airport for nearly two years, primarily for taxiway and apron edge lighting. Carmanah’s solar-powered LED lighting technology enabled the USAF to install high performance, reliable lighting without further burdening the airport’s limited power infrastructure.
