Carmanah has received an order from the Missouri Department of Transportation (MODOT) for 55 units of the Company’s Model R601 solar LED marker lights. These lights will be installed in St. Louis, Missouri as part of the Discovery Bridge Project.

The Discovery Bridge crosses the Missouri River near the City of St. Louis, and carries as many as 60,000 vehicles daily. The MODOT required a cost-effective solution to illuminate the bridge in order to increase visibility and safety for both drivers and pedestrians.

Due to an optical illusion that makes a 12-foot gap separating the four eastbound and four westbound lanes appear smaller, more than five people have died since 1992 while attempting to jump from one side to the other. By adding Carmanah’s solar-powered LED lights to the bridge, the MODOT is hoping the break the optical illusion and increase overall safety for bridge users.

Carmanah’s Model R601 solar LED lights are ideal for this type of installation, as they are easy to install, reliable, maintenance free, and very cost effective. The lights will charge under any weather conditions and provide bright dusk-to-dawn operation for up to 5 years.nance for five years.

With more than 100,000 installations, Carmanah is a world leader in solar-powered LED lighting. For more information about the Company’s unique roadway lighting solutions, please visit www.roadlights.com or contact the Roadway Lighting Division (toll-free) at 1-877-722-8877 or info@roadlights.com.
