Carmanah is pleased to announce the receipt of two orders from a Michigan technology company to power critical natural gas monitoring equipment. The orders consist of four of Carmanah’s 100-watt MAPPS solar power systems.
These orders follow the successful installation and ongoing performance of two previous systems purchased in the spring of 2005. The complete solar power package provides power to natural gas tank monitoring and wireless communications equipment. The solar power systems purchased by the customer meet Class 1 Zone 2 certifications for hazardous locations, which is particularly important given the environment at the customer’s refinery site where these systems are to be installed.
Hazardous zones exist throughout natural gas, oil, and methane (waste) refining sites as explosive gases might escape around valves, gages, or pipeline fittings. Therefore, special precautions have to be used to prevent electrical sparks from igniting the gases. Carmanah’s Hazardous MAPPS systems are specially constructed and sealed to prevent sparking sources from coming in contact with these gases and are UL / CSA certified for Class 1 Zone 2 areas.
Carmanah’s solar power systems represent the highest standards of steadfast operation and have thousands of systems operating reliably in alpine, coastal and desert environments. As Carmanah’s MAPPS Systems are shipped as complete, easy-to-assemble kits, they can be installed quickly with minimal technical expertise.
