Carmanah’s Power Systems Group has recently supplied a number of its proprietary MAPPS remote solar power systems to an Ontario-based fencing manufacturer and installer. These remote solar power systems are scheduled for installation in a rural area just outside of Sarnia, Ontario for the purpose of driving remotely-activated gates for vehicle entry and exit.
The rural location of the installations made grid-based power impractical from a cost standpoint. In addition, the cost of Carmanah’s portion of the entire automated gate system did not dramatically impact the bottom line nor total cost of ownership.
Carmanah solar power professionals worked closely with the fencing company to analyze the daily usage of the gating systems and, based on the solar insolation values in southern Ontario, determine the correct remote solar power systems that would be cost-effective while providing year-round power reliability.

In fact, they can even be approved for Class I, DIV. II hazardous locations.
