Carmanah’s Solar Power Systems Group has been contracted by a gas compression company based out of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, to supply up to 70 integrated solar power systems for powering gas detection equipment at various locations throughout the province.
Each custom solar power system supplied by Carmanah comprises a solar array with pole mount, charge controller, 100Ahr batteries, enclosure and cabling. The system will be powering a gas detection unit, which is a safety device that closes down a gas valve and turns off the compressor engine at a gas well in case of a leak.
As Carmanah’s solar power system are completely independent of any other energy sources at the site, it is the ideal solution for powering this safety device. The gas compression company placed an initial order for 20 systems in mid-February and an additional order for 50 more systems is anticipated before the summer.
