Carmanah’s solar-powered area lighting technology is enhancing nighttime safety and convenience for pedestrians in Ontario, Canada. Ideal for lighting dark stretches of sidewalks or remote walking paths, the stand-alone LED-based area lighting provides a reliable and economical source of illumination, wherever its needed.

For this application, the LED lighting technology is using Carmanah’s built-in intelligent energy management system to provide bright illumination at times when pedestrian traffic is at its busiest, and switch to a reduced level of illumination later in the evening.

Featuring an efficient, downward-focused output, Carmanah’s lighting solution directs the light only where its needed, minimizing spillover into neighboring yards or the night sky. For pathways located in an urban setting, this feature is especially useful in helping to meet the needs of both pedestrians and nearby homeowners.

Requiring no connection to the electrical grid, and no scheduled maintenance for up to five years, Carmanah’s solar area lighting solutions significantly reduce the installation, maintenance and operational costs associated with conventional hardwired lighting alternatives. By eliminating trenching and cabling, the lights can also be installed quickly and easily with minimal technical expertise.
