The US Air Force has placed an additional order for 100 units of Carmanah’s solar LED runway lights to be installed at an air base in Afghanistan. Carmanah’s 700 Series Threshold Lights have already been in use at this base for more than 8 months now, operating to the satisfaction of base operations. According to base personnel, “the threshold lights are still going strong with zero problems… the threshold lights are perfect and have taken a lot of pressure off us when it comes to overall maintenance of the airfield…”

By installing Carmanah’s solar-powered LED runway edge lights, base operations will eliminate the daily battery charging requirements and ongoing maintenance common to battery-operated airfield lighting systems.

Carmanah has more than 9,000 aviation lights currently operating at military installations in the Middle East, North America, SW Asia, Europe and Northern Africa. For more information, contact Allister Wilmott, Business Development Manager for Carmanah’s Aviation Lighting Division.
