Victoria-based Carmanah Technologies has continued to raise its profile — and its revenues — by winning a contract to supply solar-powered bus shelter lighting systems to the city of Toronto. Carmanah said the city will convert 200 commuter coverings to solar power using its light-emitting diode i-Shelter™ lighting systems.

The installation means 350 Toronto bus shelters will be using the technology, Carmanah said. Carmanah sold its solar-powered bus-stop technology to London, England. Earlier this month, it received a $200,597-purchase order from Edinburgh, Scotland. Carmanah reported first-quarter earnings of $263,422 on revenues of $4,849,542.
