Carmanah’s Solar LED Lighting Division has received an order for 35 LED illuminated intersection signs from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. These illuminated signs, to be installed throughout the campus and neighboring community, will display street names as well as the University of Alabama’s logo and distinctive crimson and grey university colors in a bright and attractive design.

Chosen as an economical, energy-efficient alternative to traditional illuminated intersection sign options, Carmanah’s LED sign technology aligns well with the University’s commitment to energy efficiency. With an annual energy expenditure of $7-9 million dollars in electricity and natural gas, the campus has adopted a comprehensive energy policy that promotes energy efficiency and conservation wherever possible. Savings realized can then be invested in campus infrastructure upgrades.

This order is part of the University’s lighting retrofit project which has a goal of saving 21 million kilowatt hours per year and reducing the amount of pollutants released into the atmosphere by 157 tonnes annually.
