In December 2004, Carmanah’s Model 601 and 701 solar-powered LED marine lights are to be installed in ferry terminals and around ports in Ha Long Bay, Vietnam, to support waterway traffic related to expanding tourism.
Ha Long Bay is a part of the Province of Quang Ninh and is located in the northeast corner of Vietnam. It covers a total area of 1,553 square miles and contains nearly 2000 islands. Ha Long Bay is recognized as a National Protection Area and part of the bay is also recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Area.
Carmanah’s marine lights will be installed by Quang Ninh’s Department of Inland Waterway. The Vietnam Inland Waterway Bureau has been using Carmanah’s lights on other waterway projects since September of 2001 and is pleased with their reliability and performance. This latest aids-to-navigation project is scheduled to be fully operational by early 2005.
