VICTORIA (CKNW/AM980) — It’s being called the world’s first solar-powered bus stop. Carmanah Technologies of Victoria says the I-stop only needs 90-minutes of natural light to charge up its batteries, so it will work even on the “wet coast”.

One of its key benefits is illuminated isolated bus stops at night. The Victoria transit system is trying out 10 of the new units this winter.
