Carmanah’s Solar LED Lighting Group has recently provided 50 solar-powered lighting systems for use by the Public Carriage Office (PCO) in London, England, on newly designed taxi stops currently being installed throughout the city.

The PCO is the body responsible for licensing taxis within the London metropolitan area. In line with improving services and increasing safety, the PCO recently installed a new eye catching taxi stop design throughout the London area. The taxi stops’ distinctive blue and white logo clearly informs travelers that this is a designated taxi stop and that it is safe to stop and wait.
The taxi stops use Carmanah’s solar LED technology to light up at night. This illumination makes the stops easy to find for pedestrians and contributes to the PCO’s key objective of increasing safety for nighttime travelers in the capital.

With solar power, light can be provided where and when it is needed without the costs and difficulties associated with grid connection. Carmanah have over 250,000 installations in 110 countries and specialise in providing solar-powered lighting to an increasing range of transport infrastructure, making the travel environment safer and more secure for the traveling public.
