Carmanah’s Solar Power Systems Group has established an ongoing supply contract with Wireless Eye, Inc. for its proprietary 320-watt MAPPS (Modular Autonomous Photovoltaic Power Supply) Systems. These solar-powered systems will be installed at locations in Central California to run wireless security cameras at new home construction sites.
Wireless Eye, owned by telcom tower manufacturer US Tower Corporation of Woodlake CA, produces a patent-pending, solar-powered wireless and secure video surveillance camera system for construction, agricultural and asset site security. For these particular installations, the security cameras, which are monitored remotely via a web site, are mounted on a 60-foot pole to overlook major new home construction sites that have been plagued with theft.
Solar power is the most cost-effective means of remotely powering low-wattage wireless cameras for security systems. Wireless Eye chose Carmanah’s MAPPS systems because of their integrated design and reputation for reliability. Carmanah’s MAPPS systems are shipped as complete, easy-to-assemble units and dramatically decrease the cost of installation. Carmanah’s MAPPS systems are complete stand-alone solar electric systems available that are specifically designed for remote industrial applications. To further increase system efficiency and minimize solar array size, Carmanah’s MAPPS systems will also be fitted with MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) controllers. These controllers are designed to increase winter performance by 25%.
