Victoria, BC – September 10, 2003 – Carmanah Technologies Corporation (TSX VE: CMH) is pleased to announce that it has a contract to supply the Kirkuk USAF Base in Iraq with a significant order of taxiway edge lights.

Scheduled for permanent installation in October 2003, the air base has secured 400 units of the Carmanah Model 601 solar-powered LED taxiway light. These units will provide increased safety and effective visual guidance at a fraction of the cost of a conventional hardwired lighting system.

With access to reliable power almost impossible under the current conditions, the base has selected Carmanah’s solar-powered lighting solution as the logical alternative. Carmanah’s self-contained lights offer excellent performance and reliability with no scheduled maintenance for up to 5 years. They can be installed quickly with no trenching or cabling.

In recent months, Carmanah has supplied more than 1000 units to various USAF bases in Iraq for applications including taxiway edge, runway edge, threshold, runway end, obstruction, apron edge and helipad lighting.
