The US Air Force has placed an additional order for 250 units of Carmanah Technologies’ Model A601 taxiway edge lights to be installed at the second largest US Air Force base in Iraq.

Carmanah’s solar-powered LED taxiway lights will replace existing retroreflective markers, a measure that is being taken to significantly improve nighttime safety under pilot Night Vision Goggle (NVG) use. A previous order of Carmanah lights was installed at this same USAF base more than two years ago and they continue to operate reliably in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The lights are fully self-contained and can be installed without any of the costly infrastructure associated with hardwired airfield lighting systems. Carmanah’s quick-to-deploy airfield lighting solutions create considerable savings in resources through the reduction in labor and energy costs and, most importantly, offer a dramatic improvement in airfield safety.

Carmanah offers a range of rugged and proven reliable airfield lighting solutions for defense and civilian applications. For more information, please contact Allister Wilmott, Business Development Manager at awilmott@solarairportlights.com or visit www.solarairportlights.com.
