The US Army is using solar-powered aviation lights to enhance helipad safety at a forward operating base in the Middle East. Consisting of solar LED aviation lights, solar power systems, internally illuminated solar-powered windsocks and mounting accessories, the new system offers a considerable safety advantage for nighttime base operations.

Forward operating bases present unique challenges with regards to powering and maintaining essential safety equipment. Operating in demanding desert conditions, safety equipment such as lighting must be able to withstand extreme temperatures and environmental conditions. Carmanah’s solar technology provides the ideal solution with self-contained lighting systems that have been field-proven to withstand environmental extremes.

Carmanah’s self-contained solar helipad lights need no external wiring or cabling, allowing for efficient deployment and reconstitution as required. Designed to function for up to five years without any scheduled maintenance, Carmanah’s solar helipad lighting solutions provide ruggedly reliable illumination without the cost of powering a hardwired system.

Carmanah’s windsocks are internally illuminated with a solar-powered luminaire and feature either permanent or temporary mounting options to clearly indicate wind speed and direction, day or night.

With more than 250,000 installations in 110 countries, Carmanah’s solar technology has become synonymous with quality and performance.
