VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA (December 6, 2010) – The Canadian Solar Industries Association (CanSIA) has selected Ted Lattimore, CEO of Carmanah Technologies Corp. (TSX: CMH), as one of seven industry representatives to speak on the CEO Panel at the Solar Canada 2010 Conference and Exhibition, Toronto, Ontario. According to CanSIA officials, the Conference and Exhibition is expected to draw over 3,500 delegates, including representatives from government, utility, architect, engineering and manufacturing sectors. The Conference and Exhibition, which takes place December 6th to 7th, is being promoted by CanSIA organizers as the premier event for the Canadian solar industry.

As a participant, Lattimore will be asked to comment on the findings of the CanSIA Solar Vision 2025 study: a document that examines opportunities and challenges facing the Canadian solar industry over the next 15 years. Panelists will be addressing how economic competitiveness, job creation, and the security of Canada’s energy supply can be driven by renewable energy technologies. The Panel will also review current government incentive programs that are driving the solar energy industry and the importance of extending similar programs across all Provinces.

“We believe that solar benefits Canadians. It has the potential to be a driver of economic and industrial development, generate domestic and export revenues, as well as promote Canada’s reputation as a leader in renewable energy generation,” said Elizabeth McDonald, President, CanSIA. “The CEO Panel represents a group of leaders that can speak to the study’s findings from a variety of perspectives within the Canadian solar energy industry.”

Commenting on the decision by CanSIA to appoint Carmanah to the CEO Panel, Lattimore says, “The Canadian Solar Industries Association has increased collaboration among stakeholders and improved the awareness of solar energy technology across many Canadian policy development and business groups. CanSIA has achieved remarkable success in what most would consider a relatively short timeframe doing so. I’m honoured to have been invited to participate on the panel in support of their initiatives.”

The Canadian Solar Industries Association’s mission is to develop a strong, efficient, ethical and professional Canadian solar industry, able to service an expanding domestic energy market, to provide innovative solar solutions to world energy problems, and to play a major role in promoting the transition to a solar energy future worldwide. The 2010 Conference and Exhibition is the largest solar conference ever held in Canada. Its exhibition space has sold-out three years in a row despite expanding space. Carmanah will be exhibiting at booth number 507.
