Carmanah is pleased to announce it has been awarded a one year contract from the City of Tempe, Arizona to supply up to 40 of its i-SHELTER™ solar-powered LED lighting systems. These units will be installed on the City’s new ‘mini’ bus shelter roll-out. Carmanah’s solar-powered LED lighting systems are an economical and environmentally friendly lighting solution that require no hard-wiring and zero maintenance.
With nearly 8 million boardings a year, the City of Tempe’s transit service, Tempe Transit, accommodates the City’s population of nearly 200,000 residents. The City of Tempe chose Carmanah’s i-SHELTER™ systems for their economical, integrated, low-profile and vandal-resistant designs.
This order follows a previous order of 40 i-SHELTER™ lighting systems that were successfully deployed in the fall of 2005. The City of Tempe had trialed several other solar lighting systems for their transit system over the past decade, but found Carmanah’s technology to be the most reliable and Carmanah to be the most responsive manufacturer. Carmanah has worked closely with City of Tempe staff to deliver an aesthetically-pleasing and reliable solar LED lighting system to meet their specific requirements.
