Carmanah is pleased to report it has received an order to provide Island Transit in The State of Washington with 100 units of its i-SIGNAL™ solar-powered LED (light-emitting diode) bus signaling device and 45 units of its i-SHELTER™ solar-powered LED lighting system. The units will be installed at various bus stops and shelters throughout Coupeville, Washington on Whidbey Island, north of Seattle, WA.

Island Transit is a Public Transportation Benefit Area (PTBA), which provides free-fare transit rides and ridesharing services to its local Island County riders. By providing free transit to Island County residents and visitors, Island Transit hopes to reduce traffic congestion, lessen air pollution, contribute to the successful and growing community, and most importantly, create a safe riding environment for transit users. Carmanah’s innovative lighting products will help contribute to Island Transit’s enthusiastic mission.

About the i-SIGNAL™ Bus Signaling Device

Carmanah’s i-SIGNAL™ solar-powered transit beacon is a LED flashing light that is activated by waiting passengers at the bus stop. With the press of a button, passengers can alert oncoming bus drivers that a pick-up is needed. Upon activation, the i-SIGNALTM flashes for one minute. Not only does the i-SIGNAL™ eliminate pass-bys at bus stops, but it also improves the time efficiency of bus drivers and creates a sense of security for riders.

About the i-SHELTER™ Lighting System

The i-SHELTER™ solar powered LED lighting system is the most vandal resistant and reliable bus shelter lighting system in the industry. By providing all night illumination at bus shelters, passengers feel safer about using transit services. In addition to improving overall transit ridership, the i-SHELTER™ LED lighting system provides environmentally friendly benefits such as reduced green house gas emissions. The i-SHELTER™ uses Carmanah’s field-proven technology and requires no trenching, cabling or grid power hookups. It is a cost-effective and a low-maintenance customer service solution; the i-SHELTER™ is designed to operate without scheduled servicing for up to 5 years.

Carmanah’s solar-powered illuminated bus stop products are currently installed with more than 95 transit authorities throughout North America and abroad. Carmanah’s solar LED transit lighting products have received wide recognition for their unique integrated design and outstanding performance. The Company’s i-SHELTER™ systems are designed to adapt to any shelter design and feature the rugged reliability of all of Carmanah lighting products.
