Philips Plans LED Plant in Singapore

Singapore - Royal Philips Electronics announced today that it will open a LED factory in Singapore, hiring 1,000 workers, in an attempt to keep up with lightning-fast growth in that new, high-tech segment of the lighting business. Philips will sink about $80 million into the LED production facility, sources close to Philips said. The investment "further strengthens Philips' leadership position in the global lighting market by investing in the high-growth and huge-potential LED market," said Philips Chief Executive Gerard Kleisterlee, as he announced the move in Singapore.

Carmanah Receives Order for Wireless Airfield Lighting from US Air National Guard

Carmanah has received an order from the US Air National Guard for approximately $42K of its solar-powered LED airfield lights. Carmanah has received an order from King County Metro Transit of Seattle, WA, for an additional 36 units of its i-SHELTER™ solar-powered LED shelter lighting systems. Carmanah Receives Order from Exxon Mobil for Airfield Lighting in Africa

Carmanah's Solar LED Lighting Group has received an order valued at more than $330,000 from Exxon Mobil to supply an expedited airfield lighting system for an airfield in Chad, Africa. This system is comprised of Carmanah's Model A704-5 runway lights with wireless control, Model A601 taxiway lights, as well as the frangible bases and mounting hardware necessary for installation. Exxon Mobil did not have access to grid power out to this particular airfield in Chad.
