Carmanah Receives Airfield Lighting Order from Burlington Alamance Regional Airport, NC

Carmanah has been contracted by the Burlington Alamance Regional Airport in Burlington, North Carolina, to supply 46 Model A601 solar-powered LED blue lens taxiway lights. This order also includes a range of accessories, such as stake mounting systems, base mounts, couplings and floor flanges. With as many as 107 flights per day, Burlington Alamance Regional Airport was reluctant to run electrical cables through its airfield and disrupt its daily operations.

Canadian Marine Light Manufacturer Wins Coast Guard Contract

British Columbia-based Carmanah Technologies, a marine light manufacturer, said in a statement that it had received two Standing Offer contracts with the Canadian Coast Guard for its LED lights and related accessories. The combined value of these two new Standing Offers is up to Cdn$828,000, and they are valid from August 10, 2005 to September 30, 2007, with a possible extension to September 30, 2008. Authorized representatives of the CCG are permitted to place call-up orders of up to Cdn$40,000, including applicable taxes.

City of Mississauga Saves Electricity Through Solar-Powered Transit Shelters

Mississauga, August 11, 2005 - The City of Mississauga and Viacom Outdoor have entered into an agreement to install solar powered lighting in new Mississauga Transit bus shelters that do not contain advertising. The agreement is the result of a successful pilot project in 2004 where 39 bus shelters were installed with solar powered lights, resulting in significant cost savings for the City.
