Synergy Rules: Carmanah Buys Second Solar Power Firm

High tech success Carmanah Technologies Corp. has bought a second Victoria solar-power firm in a union the Harbour Road-based company hopes will help solidify its globe market. Twelve-year-old Carmanah is buying 20-year-old Soltek Powersource Ltd. for $10 million, with the promise of another $2 million if Solteck can raise its six-month revenues to $9 million.

Camp Doha in Kuwait Orders Carmanah Helipad Edge Lighting

Carmanah has recently received an order from the US Army to supply 16 units of its solar-powered LED aviation lights to mark helipad perimeters at Camp Doha in Kuwait. Solar-powered LED helipad lights are an excellent solution for Camp Doha, which has an abundance of sun but lacks the infrastructure for reliable electricity.

US Army Helicopter Airfield Orders Carmanah Helipad Edge Lights

Carmanah Technologies is pleased to announce that it has received an order to supply its solar-powered LED helipad lights to Camp Taji, a US Army helicopter airfield in Iraq. The order consists of 45 lights comprised of six Model A702 (white) runway lights; 21 Model A601 (blue) taxiway lights; 12 Model A601 (amber) apron edge lights and six Model A601 (red) obstruction lights.

VANCOUVER (CP) _ Carmanah Technologies Corp. said Wednesday it is acquiring Soltek Powersource Ltd. in a $10-million deal. Privately held Soltek is described as the largest Canadian supplier of solar systems and solar-power-related equipment, with revenue in its year ended last August of $17.5 million and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of $1.2 million.
