Additional Order Increases Total Solar-Powered LED Airfield Lights Installed On One Airfield To 2,000 Units

Carmanah Technologies Corp. is going after new markets for its solar-powered LED lighting units, and some analysts expect the small company to see revenue growth of 50% to 66% in 2005. Victoria-based Carmanah, which is listed on the TSX Venture Exchange, designs and produces energy-efficient lights for marine, aviation and roadside applications.

US Air Force Orders Model A702 Infrared Runway Edge Lights

Two separate US Air Force Bases have ordered a combined 24 units of Carmanah's newly released A702 IR infrared solar-powered LED runway edge lights. These lights will be installed for fixed wing nighttime training operations using night vision goggle (NVG) technology. The lights are designed to operate from dusk until dawn and can only be seen with the use of NVGs as infrared LED light is undetectable to the naked eye. Both USAF bases will benefit from Carmanah's incorporation of infrared LED technology into maintenance free, solar-powered LED airfield lights.

Toronto Bus Shelter Deal Helps Raise Solar-Tech Firm’s Profile

TSX (CMH) Close: $2.64 Change: -$0.05 Victoria-based Carmanah Technologies has continued to raise its profile -- and its revenues -- by winning a contract to supply solar-powered bus shelter lighting systems to the city of Toronto. Carmanah said the city will convert 200 commuter coverings to solar power using its light-emitting diode i-Shelterâ„¢ lighting systems. The installation means 350 Toronto bus shelters will be using the technology, Carmanah said.

Highlights for the quarter: Record Q1 2005 revenues of $4,849,542. Record Q1 2005 orders booked of $6,089,305. Record order backlog at the end of Q1 in the amount of $2,839,576. Year-to-date gross profit margin at 52%, consistent with the average gross profit margin for 2004. Q1 2005 net income of $263,422. Q1 2005 EBITDA of $325,190. "With a record $4.8 million in product delivered and over $6 million in orders booked during our first quarter, Carmanah is on track towards realizing its sales goals for 2005," states Art Aylesworth, Carmanah's CEO.
