Riverside Transit Agency Gives Bus Stops a Boost

RIVERSIDE, CA - July 23, 2003 - The Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) has launched an ongoing campaign aimed at improving the appearance and function of bus stops throughout Riverside County. The four-phase program kicked off in April with a bus stop clean up program. The Agency is now in the third phase, which includes the installation of 4,000 newly designed bus stop kiosk signs.

Carmanah Installs i-STOP™ Bus Stops with the City of Aspen, Colorado

In June 2003, the City of Aspen (CO) installed Carmanah's i-STOPTM solar-powered illuminated bus stops for field trial. These i-STOPTM units are providing this transit authority's passengers with LED security lighting, timetable illumination, as well as a user-operated flashing signal to indicate to the bus operator that a stop is requested. Lynn Bader, Transit Co-ordinater for the City of Aspen commented "Carmanah's i-STOPTM has helped our authority overcome a safety barrier by offering greater visibility to the operator, thus increasing ridership.

Carmanah Technologies Links with U.S. Company

Carmanah Technologies has signed a memorandum of understanding with New Jersey-based Dialight Corp. to co-operate in developing and marketing new lights for highway and aviation use. Each company's product development group will work together, said Michael Ball, Carmanah's vice-president of sales and marketing.
