Atlanta Transit Buys Carmanah’s i-STOP™ Solar-Powered, LED-Illuminated Bus Stop

Victoria, BC - October 30, 2003 - Carmanah Technologies Corporation (TSX VE: CMH) is pleased to announce that the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) has selected the i-STOP(tm), Carmanah's new solar-powered bus-stop illumination system, for its "Enhanced Service Routes." Atlanta's $125,000 Cdn purchase marks the largest and most prominent installation of i-STOP(tm) systems since the product's market introduction in September of 2002. Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) GA Lighting Subcommittee Test Scheduled for May 8-10 in Shelton, WA.

The IES Committee will be conducting a General Aviation taxiway edge light test in Shelton, WA between May 8-10, 2003. The purpose of this test will be to analyze the effectiveness of cost reduced taxiway edge lighting for General Aviation Airports. The IES Committee is devoted to the study of application and control of light and lighting to spaces and functions involved in the operation of aircraft.

FAA General Aviation Economy Lighting Aids Project 2003

An ongoing partnership between Carmanah and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) during the course of 2002/2003 has lead to the development of Project: General Aviation Lighting Aids. This project will examine current recommendations to develop cost-effective lighting solutions for General Aviation Airports, in comparison to more costly certified FAA lighting equipment for Commercial, Part 139 airports. The FAA is expected to visually inspect one of Carmanah's airfield installations in 2003.
