CCG Introduces Solar-powered LED Aids to Navigation

With the help of a small Canadian technology company the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) has installed the first fully lit marine navigation system in the world. Carmanah Technologies Inc. (Victoria, British Columbia, Canada) has invented a small, powerful, lightweight and inexpensive solar-powered marine light that completes the CCG's quest to build a low-cost lighted navigation buoy that runs for five years with no maintenance.

Union Pacific Railroad to Use Solar-Powered LED Lights

Carmanah Technologies Corporation announced on July 22nd that it has received an order from Union Pacific Railroad for 350 of its blue-signal rail yard lanterns. Carmanah's lights combine energy-saving light-emitting diode (LED) lights with rechargeable batteries and small solar cells.

Union Pacific Railway Places Initial Order of Carmanah Solar-Powered Lights

As a result of an internal assessment of its work yard safety procedures and equipment, the North Platt, Nebraska, rail yard of Union Pacific has ordered 350 units of Carmanah's Model 501 for blue flag protection purposes.
