Bob Wiens Appointed to Carmanah Technologies Board of Directors

VICTORIA, BC, CANADA (January 6, 2010) – Carmanah Technologies Corporation (TSX: CMH), a global provider of solar LED lighting technology, has appointed Bob Wiens to the Board of Directors. Mr. Wiens has also been appointed as Chair of the Audit Committee.

Mr. Wiens brings 30 years of public company experience to the position, including 13 years as President and CEO of FACS Records Centre, a document management and storage company. Mr. Wiens also has 16 years with Arthur Andersen & Co. Having worked in the New York, Toronto and Ottawa offices, Mr. Wiens ended his tenure with Arthur Anderson as managing partner of the Vancouver office.  Sitting on numerous boards of public and private companies, along with many community organizations, Mr. Wiens also has extensive experience in a Director role.

Rob Cruickshank, Chairman of the Board, commented on Mr. Wiens’ appointment, “We are delighted to have someone as experienced and committed as Bob Wiens joining the Board. Among his impressive credentials, Mr. Wiens is also a Chartered Accountant, and we feel his appointment as Chair of the Audit Committee will further strengthen the important work of this group.” Mr. Cruickshank commented on outgoing Chair, Rob Logan, saying “Mr. Logan has done an excellent job during his tenure as Chair of the Audit Committee and we look forward to having him remain as a member of the Committee.”

Additional changes to the Board of Directors include the resignation of Grant Byers on November 10, 2009.
