Carmanah’s Solar LED Lighting Group has received a new, follow-on contract from the City of Tempe, Arizona to supply i-SHELTER™ solar bus shelter lighting systems. The Company is pleased to report that the city has also extended the terms of an existing contract through which Carmanah’s solar-powered LED lighting systems are being retrofitted to the city’s ‘mini’ bus shelters. According to the City of Tempe, Carmanah’s technology has proven to be effective in enhancing passenger safety, both real and perceived, as well as aiding passenger visibility for bus drivers.
The City of Tempe’s transit service accommodates a population of nearly 200,000 residents and as many as eight million riders per year. The city chose Carmanah’s i-SHELTER™ solar bus shelter lighting systems based on their economical, fully-integrated and vandal-resistant design. Carmanah’s i-SHELTER™ solar bus shelter lighting systems provide environmentally-friendly lighting solutions that require no external hardwiring or power infrastructure and no scheduled maintenance for up to five years.
Prior to using Carmanah’s solar bus shelter lighting technology, the City of Tempe had trialed several other solar lighting systems over the past decade. However, Carmanah’s technology proved to provide the highest performance with the most reliability and Tempe personnel have indicated that Carmanah was also the most responsive company they’ve worked with.
