Carmanah has received an order from CCRTA (Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority) for multiple units of its fully self-contained, solar-powered LED illuminated i-STOP® bus stop. These units will be installed along a new bus route in Cape Cod’s popular summer tourist beach area.
The Cape Cod region of Massachusetts consists of 15 unique towns, and is located just 75 miles from Logan Airport in Boston. The CCRTA ensures the public transportation system for Cape Cod accommodates the thousands of tourists that visit the region each year. In order to maintain safety and provide nighttime visibility along the bus routes, the CCTRA chose to install Carmanah’s proprietary i-STOP® solar LED illuminated bus stop.
About the i-STOP® Solar LED Transit Stop
The i-STOP® unit is a compact, completely self-contained solar-powered LED bus stop lighting system that installs onto most standard bus stop poles. The i-STOP® unit is entirely modular, enabling transit authorities to choose one or more of the following LED lighting features:
- Security area lighting to provide a safer environment for waiting passengers. This down lighting also allows passengers to be more visible to bus operators;
- An edge-lit illuminated schedule with low-profile, uniform illumination that enables passengers to readily view bus route information from dusk to dawn;
- Carmanah’s patented i-SIGNAL™ bus signaling device – a flashing beacon that notifies an oncoming bus that a stop is required. This beacon is visible up to a 1/4 mile in the day, and 1 mile in the dark.
All features are user-activated via ADA-compliant, self-illuminating buttons, including Braille labels with easy-to-read tactile lettering.
