Carmanah CEO Targets Turin as His Firm’s Gateway to the World

Art Aylesworth, CEO of Victoria-based solar LED lighting industry leader Carmanah Technologies, will be off to Turin, Italy, soon to talk up his firm's products at the 2006 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. And, like the some 80 other business participants in the presentations at British Columbia-Canada Place, which opened Monday, Aylesworth sees it as a great opportunity to spread the word on what Carmanah offers -- including lighting for sea navigation, airports and bus shelters.

US Marine Corps Orders 600 Carmanah Portable Airfield Lights for Middle East

Carmanah has received an additional order from the US Marine Corps (USMC) for 300 A601 apron edge lights and 300 A601 obstruction/barricade lights. These solar- powered LED portable airfield lights will be installed at one of the many US airfields in the Middle East currently serviced by Carmanah. US airfields in the Middle East typically have no existing infrastructure or power sources to run traditional hard-wired airfield lighting.

US Air Force Orders 300 Carmanah LED Solar-Powered Taxiway Lights

Carmanah has received an order from the US Air Force (USAF) for 300 Model A601 solar-powered LED taxiway lights with optional deactivation switches. These lights will be installed at the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, which already uses more than 2,500 units of Carmanah's solar LED portable airfield lights. The Ali Al Salem Air Base is situated 39 miles north of the Iraqi border in a flat dessert environment with difficult to access electrical infrastructure necessary to support hardwired airfield lighting.

Carmanah Technologies has been named Canadian Exporter of the Year by International Trade Canada. The company, maker of solar power and LED lighting systems for the marine and other industries, also received the Innovation Export award for successfully developing and launching innovative products. Carmanah is headquartered in Victoria, British Columbia, and its international operations include branch offices in 11 cities throughout Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Carmanah Solar Power “Lights Up” Redland Shire in Queensland, Australia

Redland Shire Council in Cleveland, Qld., has recently implemented two projects involving Carmanah's solar-powered lighting to increase security of public walkways within it's residential sub-divisions. Carmanah's Authorized Distributor, Orion Solar Solutions, had originally been appointed as a preferred supplier to the Council for supplying marine navigation lights for the Council's waterways in Moreton Bay.
